I think the main problem facing the Agric sector in Africa ranged from improved seeds, state of the art agriculture technology to market access and post harvest losses.
However the main bane of farmers is predominantly having unrestricted access to market. Even farmers who produce high quality agric products find it extremely difficult to gain access to market opportunities thereby rendering the sector unattractive to young people.
To be able to deal with the myriad of problems affecting farmers in Africa, there would be the need to invest in first and foremost food processing industries to turn the produce to durable goods fit for export.
There has to be investment in warehousing to store grains to prevent post-harvest losses and create some kind of artificial demand leading to realistic prices for farmers.
Additionally, venture capital funds could be established purposely for the agric sector to allow prospective farmers have access to loans which the traditional banks refuse to do.
A lot of unemployed graduates I interviewed revealed that they would love to go into farming as occupation but access to land is a major hurdle coupled with non availability of start-up capital.
I think these are just a few of the problems the agric sector is facing in Africa.

These are challenges:
1. Finance.

2. Most of the farmers are still using old methods of farming system which results in low production. So farmers need to be well trained.( Modern technology).

3. Inadequat support from the government.

4. We also lack the required equipments , most of the farming activities are done by manpower as compared to other foreign countries.

i think among the problems that face agriculture in Africa is Culture as many of Africans do not allow adoption of new technology in their agricultural activities.
for example most of them continue to use local tools and agricultural inputs instead of modernized machines.
This situation can be linked to financial problems.
