Great ambition and passion.
Gairy, I would suggest a couple of options or a combination of these options.

1. Encourage and help them to form groups (FBO) and reach out to them through these groups.
2. They need examples to follow. Set up demonstrations or nurture farmers very well so they will be an example for them to follow.
3. To those who can access the internet, introduce this blog/site to them. There is a lot of information that will help them.
