1. There are a number of mulch materials that can be used, but you will need to consider your scale of production and the cost of making the mulch available on your farm.
For large scale open field ginger cultivation, the residue after land clearing is the best mulch, economically.

2. For the plant residue, just leave them to cover the soil surface after clearing. In other cases, you can gather to make way for planting and spread to cover the surface after planting.
